He's figuring out this retirement thing is pretty good, though to keep in shape he'll run a couple of laps around the pool. Speaking of pool, you will often find him lounging in the kiddy pool. Just pass him a cool drink and he's all set for summer. Rocky walks well on a lead, crates well, & rides really well. He's smart and learns quickly. Female, White and Brindle, DOB 5-30-05, 62lbs.  Cheyenne is a happy, affectionate, intelligent girl who loves to learn.  She helps you open every door and cabinet – nothing escapes that sharp mind - she loves to learn and please.  Cheyenne has good house manners, crates, really enjoys playing and running in the yard with her buddies, loves her walks, and her delightfully pleasant demeanor sparkles. She loves people and looks for scritches from everybody she meets.   She gets along beautifully with other Greyhounds, but cats and other breeds of dogs of any size will clearly be made aware that they are not considered social equals. Her love of walks is second only to her love of food, and she does a little happy dance (kicking up her heels) in anticipation of her meals. Guns easily negotiates stairs, is great on a leash, roaches like a real pro, and grins when she is exceptionally happy. She is a very well behaved, calm, loving little girl who gets along well with the resident canines (a lab plus two greys) and is not in the least bothered by the “heathen” kitties scampering about in her home. Female, Red Fawn, DOB 5-07-06, 57lbs.  She answers to “Lacy” or to “Laser” which fits.  This little beauty is well mannered, affectionate, and has a warm look that instantly penetrates to your heart and zaps away anything but greyt feelings.   She loves her scritches and has the right balance between being forward and patiently waiting for your attention.  She is extremely well mannered in her foster home, playful, loves the 4 year old girl and her Greyhound buddies. He is a bit reserved when experiencing new things and meeting new people, but his curiosity always gets the best of him and he warms up quickly. AJ is quite playful – a rope toy or squeaky will hold his attention for hours. He enjoys playing with his 4-legged housemates, but is independent enough to be a single pet. Female, Brindle, DOB 4-24-04, 58lbs What a sweetheart this little girl is. Marina is doing great after having a broken hock. She walks, plays and even runs now on that leg. Doesn't bother her at all. Marina has become the 'mother hen' to the Italian greyhounds, a puppy, and even the kitten she lives with. She didn't care to 'mother' the ferrets, they were a bit too aromatic for her so she avoids them, but I can imagine she wishes she had a clothes pin for her nose! Marina is a wonderful family companion. She's such a sweet girl and she doesn't even mind the loud talking teens or the kids screaming at the video games. DOB 7/3/07, Bdl/F approx 60# Shortcake comes to us at such a young age due because a sudden growth spurt caused her some front leg lameness. Our vet tells us that she will grow out of it in time as her growing and weight evens out. She is a happy playful puppy that enjoys running in the yard, playing with as many toys as she can find and interacting with the other dogs. Amber loves to go for walks, but also enjoys nice, long, frequent, naps---it’s the only way her tail gets a rest. She loves the outdoors, sunning herself in the grass, wading through her baby pool, or running about in pursuit of a ball or squeaky toy. Her sit position is exquisite, and occasionally, when she’s really excited, she grins and gives little nibbling kisses. Amber gets along well with the resident greys, lab, and 2 cats. DOB 6-1-03, Red/F, approx 60#. Helen is very affectionate and obedient. She crates well and loves to go for walks. She is good around the cat - even allows him her bed if he gets there first! She is definitely a velcro girl! She sleeps on a dog bed at night at the foot of the bed (next to Rosie, my other foster). Helen has a lot of personality and is no trouble in the house. Male, Black, DOB 09-16-05, 79 lbs.   Cledus is a neat guy… new to our program and his initial assessments are very positive.  He likes affection, isn’t pushy, was a gentleman on his trips to and from the vets, didn’t pay much attention to the little guys and the cat at the vets office but he hasn’t been tested, gets along well with his kennel mates, and we will learn more as we move along. DOB 12/10/5, Whit&Fawn/M, approx 60#. Clancy is as near perfect as a dog can be. He has perfect house manners, crates perfectly, rides perfectly, and gets along perfectly with his housemates (1 male & 2 female Greys and a Westie Terrier). He is very smart, he learned to use the pet door on his first day in foster, he learned his new name Clancy right away, Beer Belly just didn't suit him, he has learned to wait patiently for his food and is getting the hang of playing with squeaky toys. (at first they kinda scared him) He is sooo loveable, without being a Velcro dog. When he greets you he likes to nudge and give nibble kisses wherever he finds a nice soft spot. Clancy is a little boy, but is big in personality. He has not been kitty tested yet, but is small dog tolerant. (Barbara & Charlie - Pace area)

Female, Black, DOB 11-17-05, 64 lbs. Flower (or ‘Boo’) is described by her foster mom as a “Loving Angel” who is calm and affectionate - She shows respect and manners when meeting you, then eagerly asks for attention and becomes Miss “Velcro”.  She gets along well with her companion Grey, an older mix breed guy, and the three cats - the three dogs really enjoy their romps and ‘tug of toys’ in the back yard, and her buddies have taught her the doggie-door swing of things.  She wants to be a collector, and understands “No” but doesn’t need to hear it much with her impeccable manners and genteel grace being what they are. Male, Fawn, DOB 8-12-04, 74lbs. Milo has a delightful zest for life and is eager to please. He loves to play, romp, and especially to give and get affection. He has lived with cats in his first foster home. His foster mom joked that if there’s food around, he’s not even aware there are cats in the room <grin>.  He returned to us through no fault of his own and is now delightfully in foster with another Greyhound.  He lives nicely with early elementary school aged kids and does play ‘ball’.   He has excellent house manners, crates well, loves to ride, loves his walks, is a world class schmoozer at a Meet & Greet, and is just fun to watch and guess which way his ears will point next.  (Fostered by John & Lauren, PC area)

DOB 3-23-05, Red Brindle/M, approx 65# Although he is a dreamy foster, we have shortened his name to Mick. Mick is really enjoying retirement with soft beds and long strolls around the neighborhood. He walks very well on a lead and never pulls, even when seeing a tantalizing cat or squirrel. He is living in his foster home with two resident Greys, two cats and a small terrier dog. He has met children and does well with them. Mick is a very mellow guy and has excellent house manners. He loves to be with his humans and will lay at your feet in case you get the urge to scritch somebody's ears. He crates well and is an all around very good boy. He is also a very handsome dog. Female, White and Black, DOB 5-24-05, 66lbs.  Hotwire is a happy, affectionate, intelligent girl who loves to learn and explore and lives comfortably with other Greyhounds and cats in her foster home.  She has excellent house manners, crates well, enjoys playing and running in the yard, and her delightfully pleasant demeanor sparkles. She loves people; in fact her foster mom describes her as a “real cuddle bunny” who always tries to be at your side to get more scritches... Female, Red Brindle, DOB 09/30/04, 58lbs.  Jackie is delightful. She is so sweet she doesn’t even blame the person who named her.  She has moved gracefully into her foster home, joining other Greyhounds and cats, and pleases everyone with her perfect manners and her gentle, yet playful and affectionate personality.  She’s found stuffies, soft places, and the good things.  She deserves that!   (Fostered by Bill & Donna, PC Area) 

Male, White & Brindle, DOB 2/10/2004, 66 lbs.   ‘Act’ really is a thief – the little rascal will steal your heart in a second and you’ll love him for doing it.  He’s being called “Trader” by his fosters since he’s guilty of insider trading as well as heart theft.  He is a delightful, affectionate, curious guy, very outgoing and confident, with excellent house manners.  He has shown interest in the cat and pup in his pre-lim testing so is not declared to be cat workable.  He rides well, loves his scritches, and gives the gentle paw and nudge when you stop petting him and he’d like more.  (Fostered by Kathy & Roy, DeFuniak)  ($ponsored by Michelle & Dan White)   Grant eligible: local adoption

Rosie is very loving and her brown eyes will pierce right through you! She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor of the bedroom and is good around the cat. She is very good on walks and stands quietly to get "dressed" with her leash. Rosie is being fostered with other Greys as well as a cat. DOB 5-5-05, Brindle/M approx 72#. Jackson is a sweet young gentleman who settled into his foster home the very first night. He loves to be with his people, but he’s not clingy or needy – he just likes to know you’re there. He’s so polite and mellow you sometimes don’t even know he’s there. Jackson lives in a working household where the resident greys are teaching him the joys of pet life, like yummy treats and ear scritches. He’s well-mannered and walks well on a leash. Male, Red Fawn, DOB 5-6-05, 70lbs. Al is a sweet guy, He is gentle, soft and smart. He loves to play with the plush toys and takes all he can find to his crate. He loves to toss the toys in the air and does a great job of catching them before they hit the ground. He has eyes that will melt your heart. His crate door open and he goes in and out as he pleases. At bed time he looks forward to that last treat of the night and is not bothered when his door is closed for the night. Al is working on the fetching the ball. He will run to get the ball but has not gotten the return part of the game yet but we are working on that. He will make a wonderful forever pet. He plays well with our little sheltie. Heather is being fostered in a home with 4 other greyhounds. She is friendly and outgoing. Heather's coloring reminds her foster mom of a Siamese cat.
