Female, Brindle, DOB 5-24-2009, approx 62 lbs  Catie is another of our healed broken leg dogs.  She is now ready to find her forever home.  She had a very complicated fracture of her "heel" that required a pin to help her heal.  Catie weathered the surgeries and her rehab like a champ.  She has perfect crate manners.  Catie is rock solid small dog tolerant.  She has shared her foster homes with a terrier and now with a couple doxies.  Catie has no restrictions on her activity.  (Pat - Pensacola area)

DV's Leroy (Leroy)     GH Data

Male, Black, DOB 11-7-2007, approx 74 lbs Leroy has been in foster care for about two weeks and is learning about how good retirement life is. He was a very good racer and is retiring at almost 5 years old. Leroy is sorta a shy kinda guy but is comfortable in a home environment. Within a day he was right by his human's side, leaning. He is living with other Greyhounds, a cat and a small dog. He crates well and walks well on a leash. Leroy has excellent house manners and learned how to use the dog door the very first day. Male, Black, DOB 11-3-2012, approx 75 lbs  Lobo is sleek and gorgeous, a black beauty for sure. He is a playful boy who’s gentle, affectionate and inquisitive. He loves all squeekies & carries them proudly around the house. He is easy going with us and, lays down nicely when traveling by car and is great on a leash. He is young, fun & energetic and enjoys something to chew on to keep his mind occupied. He gets along well with the resident grey and would probably do better with a companion or two to reassure him. As Lobo finishes the final stage of his recovery from a docked tail, he continues to settle in nicely on his journey to being a pet. Mrl Leter Rip (Ripley)     GH Data

Female, White & Black, DOB 5-18-2010, approx 58 lbs Ripley is no longer sporting that pretty in pink splint.  She also broke a hock and is completely healed.  This little beauty has other Greys in her current foster home but also spent time in rehab with a small dog. Ripley got to spend some time with some young people in her foster home and took greyt joy in licking their faces to wake the girls up each morning.  She has learned to walk well on lead even though it's been very short walks because of the extreme heat.    (Becky & Danny - Niceville area)

Female, White & Brindle, DOB 1-24-2001, approx 48 lbs.  Dixie came to GPA/EC through no fault of her own along with her two housemates.  All are receiving medical care and attention.  Dixie will require a soft food diet for a while since she lost 16 teeth during her dental.  Dixie is eligible for our Senior Foster program (fka Senior for Seniors program).  She is a little on the reserved side but warms up after a while.  (Cathy & Chris - Pensacola area)

Female, Blue Brindle, DOB 12-2-2003, approx 60 lbs.  Mercedes comes to GPA/EC through no fault of her own.  A change in circumstance with her family forced them to make the decision to find her a new home.  Mercedes was living with a small person and a cat in her previous residence and now shares her foster home with a small dog & other greys.  Mercedes has no crating issues, but it not necessary since she has impeccable house manners.  She does not get on furniture, beds or counter surf. We've found her only "glitch" is she is not fond of thunderstorms but is satisfied to curl up in a corner and wait it out.    (Cathy & Chris - Pensacola area)

What Up (Watson)     GH Data

Male, Black, DOB 1-23-2008, approx 75 lbs. Watson has been in foster care for a little while and has seen our vet about his eyes.  He has pannus which is a very manageable eye condition but does require daily medication. Since being in fostercare, one eye has completely cleared and the other is getting better too.  Watson shares his foster home with other greyhounds and has shown to be small dog tolerant.  (Phyllis & Norman - Pensacola area)

TC Trey (Trey)     GH Data

Male, White & Black, DOB 6-24-2008, approx 71 lbs.  Trey has moved to foster care and doing well.  He has learned to like the company of other Greys as well as the resident small dog.  He also likes to watch the caged birds in his foster home.   Trey did not fair well during his vetting and has been recovering.  He will make his debut at a local meet and greet once he's better.    (Cathy & Chris - Pensacola area)

Female, White & Brindle, DOB 1-22-2004. Freedom is a really affectionate girl! She greets me very enthusiastically whenever I come in the door (whether I have been gone at work all day, or just taking out the trash!) She wags all over and jumps up and down. She is very obedient and obeys all the house rules. She is fine with the resident cat, who takes our daily walks with us. Freedom will talk to me excitedly when she is ready to go for a walk, too. Female, Black, DOB 12-15-2007, approx 62 lbs Allison is new to our program.  Allison has a beautiful black coat that she loves to have petted, and if you won’t pet her, she will do it herself “cat style” on you walls. She walks well on a leash and is always ready to go for a walk or a car ride. This sweet girl gets along perfectly with her housemate grey, and doesn’t seem to pay attention to cats when she has seen them in the neighborhood or pet store. Alli is social and affectionate and very interested in toys, especially of the stuffed/squeaky variety. He is a real “cool” dude, very laid back and easy going. Loves attention and to take naps on his big pillow. Ulrick gets along fantastic with the resident grey and another foster grey. He likes to get out in the backyard and play ball and chase with the other two greys. Not sure when he saw a cat last but doesn’t seem interested in small dogs. TGR Pistol Pete (Pete)     GH Data

Pistol Pete, male brindle, DOB 4-15-08. Pete has been with me for some weeks now and he is quite a happy, friendly boy who loves to give kisses. He has adapted well to life after the track and pretty much thinks that living in a house is way better than living in a one room apartment! Pete is living with another male grey and two female greys and a bossy little dachshund and gets along with all of them. He enjoys mealtime, any treat that is passed out and taking naps in any available dog bed. The front yard is endlessly facinating as he can watch cars go by, people walking or riding bicycles, and sometimes the cars stop and the people come in the yard and into the house just to visit with him!  Pete is going to make a great addition to a family, will do well with children but will not do well with felines.. Female, Fawn, DOB 7-26-2007, approx 57 lbs.  Miley has been in her foster home for almost a week now, and is starting to show her personality. She loves attention and scritches, but is very content to lay on her blankie and rest while her human runs around the house being busy. She has met the "cat who thinks he is a dog" and is interested, but not agressive in any way. She graciously allows him to go on our walks with us and pretty much ignores him. She walks on the leash very nicely and obeys all our house rules. I sense a "collector" coming out just today - she has moved a towel or two. Quite active for an “old man”, he loves a daily run in the back yard and an occasional romp with his toys, but really prefers taking long naps on a soft bed. And as his racing name implies, he’s always on time for supper! He crates well and is very tolerant of kids and smaller dogs. As far as we know, he hasn’t seen a cat in years but likely would do well. He’s fully recovered from recent surgery on his right shoulder to remove a tumor. She crates beautifully, often preferring to lay in her crate with the door open to being anywhere else in the house. She never gets into things she shouldn't, but quickly found the dog toys and plays with them a lot. Last night she decided that it would be fun to have a "squeaky session" with her favorite toy. She started in her crate squeaking over and over, then ran with it into the bedroom, then back to the crate. The only downside - itwas midnight and I had been sound asleep! Oh well, at least I know she is having fun. She pretty much ignores the cat, I would call her at least cat tolerant. She has a lot of energy, but controls herself until out in the yard. She walks very well on the leash. A perfect foster, in my opinion!   (Jodi - Ft Walton area)

Her exuberance on the day I picked her up showed what a happy personality she has. She checked out the yards and then did an inspection of the house; her introduction to the resident dachsie alpha dog could be described as a "rolling stop" as she did a quick sniff as she breezed by and has not shown any further interest! Margie quickly discovered the dog beds and has tried them all out and has decided that the one in the guest bedroom is her favorite; stuffies are fun to grab and toss and a treat is a good thing. She crates well when fed and when I have to be gone; sleeps through the night, friendly with anyone she meets and is a champion kisser! He has excellent house manners, doesn’t get on furniture or counter surf. He loves to go for walks and is starting to play with stuffies. This handsome guy’s left ear just won’t behave and is always flopping forward, but that just makes him more endearing. He gets along well with small dogs and the two resident greys, but needs to be in a home without kitties. One look into Slider’s Cleopatra eyes and you’ll want to take this affectionate boy home.   (Phyllis & Norman - Pensacola)

Female, Brindle, DOB 5-22-07, approx 62 lbs   Abby has been in foster care for a little while now and is learning all the time how great retired life can be. She lives with three other Greyhounds, a small dog and three cats. She loves to be with other dogs and will need a home where she will have a canine friend or two to show her around. She tends to be quite timid at first and much prefers women to men. She finds children quite scary. With patience and letting her set her own pace, she has come a long way since first coming into foster care. She has been caught flinging stuffies in the air in the yard when she thought no one was looking and giving little kisses to everyone around her, canine, kitties and human. The kitties did not like it much. Abby is a beautiful little brindle girl who will need kind humans that will give her time to reach her full potential as a beloved member of the family.

Male, White & Black, DOB 12-23-06,  approx 73 lbs Lucky is a very handsome, but extremely sensitive boy who is working on his confidence.  A good romp in the yard, with his toys, is one of his favorite activities and he likes to go for walks – although he’s usually on the lookout for danger, so hang on tight!  Now that he is settling in,  Lucky greets his foster family by jumping up in the air (all four feet off the ground) and clicking his teeth, which is adorable.  He has an enormous amount of joy as well as love in his heart, and is learning that it’s ok to share – especially with his foster mom.  This is a very special dog who will respond well to a kind, loving, patient family who can help him realize his full potential.  Lucky prefers being around other dogs (they help him understand what to do) and is living in harmony with 2 cats, one of which is very obnoxious, vocal, and generally obtrusive.  (Stephanie & Sam - Gulf Breeze area)
