She gets along with the resident greys as well as the resident westie and iggy. She is just discovering stuffy toys and is having fun throwing and catching them. She loves being outside and likes the idea of being able to choose when to go out using the pet door. Leah had no trouble adjusting to home life and settled into the daily routine very nicely. She crates easily when time to go to bed or for a couple of hours during the day for our shopping trips, etc. Leah is well on her way to becoming someones special companion. She shows her "puppiness" when she chases a stuffy through the house, but she is very much the laid-back greyhound all other times. She is very loving and gives kisses generously! I took care of my friend's little dog for a week and Smokey was fine with him (except that she liked to lay in his crate and steal his stuffy!) She is also okay with my cat. He has excellent house manners, doesn't counter surf or try to get on the furniture and has never had an accident in the house. He likes to play with stuffies and occasionally will carry small throw rugs to his bed to ensure that it's extra comfy. He's very agreeable to being crated during the day if his foster mom needs to run errands and he sleeps soundly in his crate all night. Jeter has an "angel kiss" on the back of his head and neck which must be a sign that he is a very good boy. Male, White & Brindle, DOB 11-28-7, approx 70 lbs. Though he’s very young (only two), Trader is a very calm and loving fellow. A big handsome boy, he loves nothing more than lounging around while receiving a nice belly rub. Trader knows his name, comes when called, is a dream on a leash, and generally wants to please. He plays well with the resident greys and lab, yet cares nothing about the indoor cats. The squeaky opossum is his favorite toy, but he’s been known to scamper off with an odiferous sock every once in a while. A simple “no” stops him in his tracks and he looks up with his big brown eyes as if to say “I’m so sorry, now my feelings are now hurt, so please pet me immediately”. Bella has lived with another big dog, loves her new Greyhound "foster sister", has met and found approval with both a small dog and a fearless Greyhound loving kitty. Bernie then began her newest adventure as a GPAEC foster hound. She is overcoming some obstacles from her past; heartworm positive, horrible teeth, flea dermatitis, underweight, but there is nothing not able to be overcome - she’s getting terrific vet care, and she’s now enjoying the love she deserves, including regaining her strength with a soft bed and lots of TLC. Bernie, age 8.5, gives unconditional love and is a world class heart thief with a look in her eyes that just makes you melt. She refuses to let her Twilight Years be anything less than fabulous... Her main hobby is sleeping while keeping one eye focused on the kitchen -.ya never know what goodies might be there! Bernie may be a good candidate for cooking school mascot, or taste tester for any new dish, and she certainly brings a heartfelt warmth to all who’ve met her! Ruffel has that cute little turned-up nose and it really turns up when she sniffs something. I can't believe how will behaved this girl is, no problems at all. She gets along well with the resident greys but still doesn't know what to make of the small resident dog, is she friendly or not?? Ruffel chooses to just ignore her, she is a bratty little thing! As I said Ruffel is near perfect.. rides well, walks well on a leash, loves going to bed (crate) and takes treats from your hand, very politely I might add. To add to the list, she is also very smart, learned to use the pet door on the first day in foster and has learned some words like "bed, food, and out." She has been mastering the art of throwing her toys in the air and catching them, what can I say...she is too cute! Male, Red, approx 4 y/o, approx 58 lbs. True to my name, I’m a powerful HEMI engine in a small package!!!  I think I must look like some guy named “Aw” though, cause that’s what people say when they meet me and I give them kisses.  I am a world class kisser.  And I’m very smart – not sure what’s wrong with the other greyhounds around here, but the lab and I, well, we can do a perfect  “sit” and we like to fetch.  We also have a great time playing tug-o-war.  Because I’m so full of zest for life, I hope I can find a home with a yard, another dog, and maybe even some of those big “kid” things to play with.  Though I am quite the busy bee, I also love to curl up on the sofa when my foster mom isn’t looking.  I know I’m not supposed to do that, but I really, really, love a nice nap on the sofa (I don’t take up much room).  Otherwise, my house manners are impeccable, and I think the dog door is really cool.  All in all, I’m a very fun guy with lots of energy as well as an over abundance of love and kissies to give to my forever family  Hemi’s thoughts on cats:

Male, Brindle, DOB 9-1-05, approx 70 lbs. Scorch is friendly, inquisitive, tentatively playful. Affectionate, but not needy. Getting along well with the other greyhound in the house. Absolutely fasinated with his own reflection. He likes his bones and has learned to accept treats. Just starting to figure out squeeky toys. Quiet fellow, no barking or whining. A little interested in cats at this time, but has been introduced. He responds well to a firm "No". Generally a very happy fellow, and fairly confident, but can be a little unsure of himself when new things get ovewhelming. He likes to explore though and is learning quickly.

Male, Red, DOB 8-2-06, approx 72 lbs.  Dusty is a drop dead gorgeous, quiet, boy who prefers carpeted floors. He loves food almost as much as ear scritches and seems to enjoy just hanging out with the family, including the resident greys, lab, and felines. Cats are of little interest to Dusty, although he finds their food to be quite delicious. His hobbies include: playing with his squeaky opossum, romping in the yard, and following his foster mom about the house. Dusty has a nose for vanilla potpourri and can't seem to pass up a glass of pomegranate/cherry crystal light. Male, Red, DOB 5-15-05, approx 70 lbs. Catdaddy, (he knows his name), moved into foster care as though he knew the ropes already. He is a big teddy bear who is always ready to put his head in your lap for some ear scritches and neck rubs. He is living with, and doing very well with, three resident Greyhounds, two cats and a small dog. He has even met some children and seems to think they are pretty OK. Catdaddy loves his daily walks around the neighborhood, walks well on a leash and crates easily. He's a very friendly guy without being pushy about it. This is one very sweet boy! He is smart and learned "no" and how to use the pet door right away. He loves attention, so did very well at his first m&g with his friendly greetings and helicopter tail wags. Bull is just discovering the joys of playing with stuffies and squeaky toys. He rides well, crates easily and gets along with the resident greys and a westie terrier. Female, Brindle, DOB 3-12-06, approx 65 lbs.  Cassie is catching on to this retirement thing pretty quick.  She shares her foster home with two resident Greyhounds.  Cassie's house manners are good, she doesn't get on furniture or beds but does forget sometimes when her dinner is being made and tries to take a look on the counters.  A quick "NO" from her foster Mom, sends Cas to her crate to wait patiently.  Cassie has very nice leash manners but she does find the cats and squirrels a little too enticing. She has a very pretty "sit" that she's learning the name for and a play bow that she does naturally.  . (Jodi - Ft Walton area) ($ponsored by MaryAnne & Leo Holland, & McCoy)

He is smart, only having to tell him 'no' once, and he's very loving and sweet. The more you love on him the more he leans into you. He's got the cutest thin white line down his muzzle, like someone ran out of paint. He absolutely fell for my 10 yr old daughter, following her where ever she goes.  He gets along great with my two greys, greyhound mix, iggies, and especially Yap Yap, the annoying Pappillon that thinks he's a greyhound.
