She has terrific house manners and etiquette, and she is greyt with people and her Greyhound foster home mates.  She spent a day in a house with 6 or 7 cats and proved to be easily cat workable, and she showed no interest in small dogs in her few exposures. Female, White & Black, DOB 5/20/03, 68 lbs.  Showtime is pure pleasure, a very happy girl whose tail never stops wagging.  She is as smart as a whip, curious, loves to learn, loves walks, and is adept at tossing toys in the air and catching them.  She loves to play in the yard with her two Greyhound companions at her foster home, and is quickly polishing her basically good house manners with their help.  She loves people and enjoyed meeting folks from young kids to grandparents at her M&G debut. DOB 04-13-02, Wht&Blk/F, approx 61# Olive is on medical hold, however, this precious little girl never complains. Happy to lounge in her crate or out with her people, Olive is a healthy eater and has excellent house manners. Going for a walk is her favorite activity and she crowds in with the rest of the gang to have her leash attached, wagging her tail, and nuzzling our male grey. Olive hasn’t discovered soft beds or toys---but give her a little time, she’s already getting the hang of asking for affection as well as treats, and is quickly figuring out the dog door. Though she hasn’t had much time to bloom, it’s obvious she is a quiet, loving, and gentle little flower. Male, brindle, 70 pounds, DOB 5/11/03, You better believe he's De Better Boy!!!! Tigger truly is a good family dog. He is so well behaved, loving, excellent house manners, and crates all on his own. He walks nicely on lead, enjoying his evening walks through the neighborhood. That's because the neighbors ooooh and aaah over his striking markings, plus a rump scratch feels so good. He does love a rump scratch!!! Watching Tigger at M&G's, he seems to know who he can lean on and who to be a little more gentle with. Male, Light Brindle, DOB 2-13-03, Approx 71 lbs. ‘Major’ is an affectionate, strikingly handsome, boisterously happy guy. He is a fascinating blend of high energy exuberant play and gentle Velcro attention. He would do best in a home where he’s the only dog, not because he doesn’t get along well - because he plays hard and there’s no ‘stop button’ on him – when the other dogs are ready to rest, Major always wants to keep on keepin’ on. He crates well and doesn’t fret, so should do fine by himself for the times all of us have with errands, shopping, etc. His house manners and such are very good, and he has been a people magnet at the Meet & Greets he’s been to. One small child petting him at a M&G described his appearance to her Grandmother; “Chocolate Chip Cookie.” If you have the right environment for Major, you would be rewarded with a full measure of love and fun companionship.

Nikki will be going to GPA/LA where a loving family is waiting for her. He'll come when you call him, he knows not to counter surf, though supper smells good. He'll crate when asked, and no mistakes in the house. He likes to play even with the little dogs. He has learned to ignore the birds, he'll sniff the rats to see what they are doing, same with bunny, but something is wrong with that Kittie! DOB 05-24-06, Wht&Blk/M, approx 77#. This pup decided racing wasn't for him so he never got a racing name. Since he has the colors of a cow and his ears look like a hat, Stetson. This boy is all puppyish charm. Playful, curious, goofy, lovable, quite the character. As with all puppies, he's learning how to walk on leash, what is his and what isn't, what is and isn't allowed, and he's learning very fast. He hasn't had any mistakes in the house, and will crate when asked. He has been vetted but just needs to put on a bit more weight. Stetson loves everybody and everything, especially kids. Kittie to him is just another possible playmate, even though she doesn't think so. Stetson will make a fine family companion. (Tonya - Navarre)

Tilly is a sweet girl with a lot of spunk and spirit. She is a striking black beauty. She is social and gets along greyt with her foster family's 5 greys. Tilly loves to play with toys , especially squeaky ones. She is affectionate and loving with people. She looks forward to ear scritches and tummy rubs from her foster mom. She met the resident cats and was curious, but after big kitty hissed at her, she decided that he wouldn't make a very good playmate. She does fine around the neighbor children, but the 3 yr. old makes her a little nervous. Hannah loves to go for walks and does very well on lead. She also likes stuffies, the more the better, and carries them all from the toy basket to her bed. She has never had an accident in the house and is learning not to countersurf. 09-17-2004, 60 lbs. Looney Tune Moon has been in foster care with us since September 14th. We are calling her Luna, the name of a Roman moon goddess. Luna is settling into foster care very well. She loves people and can never get enough of "her people" stroking her rich sable, actually called red fawn, coat and her dark brown ears. She is living with two older resident Greyhounds, a small terrier and two cats. She has met children and does well with them. Luna loves to go for walks, does not pull on the leash but still has to learn that she can see everything while walking in a straight line next to her person. He is well mannered in the house, crates easily and lets you know when he wants to do his business. He loves to look at himself in the mirror. She loves people and if you are sitting down, Sherry will have her head in your lap making it oh so easy to pet her head and scritch her ears. Female, Red Brindle, DOB 11/21/04, 66 lbs. Connie has a beautifully deep red fawn in her red/brindle coat highlighted by her petite white shirt and socks - she’s radiant. She is calm, sweet, gets along well with other dogs, and has shown excellent house manners in her foster home. Her calm, sweet personality was tested by her first day as foster where she schmoozed folks at a Meet & Greet, was filmed by a local TV news crew who then asked for the opportunity to have her be part of a live studio interview that evening - they thought such demeanor considering her “brave new world” was newsworthy enough to make the point about Greyhounds being phenomenal pets to their listeners… she wowed ‘em…. She interacts with you with play-bows, clicking her teeth, grinning, ‘talking’, and she loves to play. She is high personality, but she also appreciates the quiet couch-times, soft places, gentle affection, and gets along beautifully with her Greyhound companions, even a pet pot-bellied pig, at her foster home. DOB 03/21/05, Red/M, approx 70#. Fat Boy, no. Fabio, yes. This little boy is beautiful! Fabio is a wonderfully sweet boy. He loves to be loved on and with his soft coat, deep brown eyes, you could love on this boy all day long. Fabio draws a crowd of people while out walking. He charms them all. He's a young dog but he has excellent house manners, crates well, obedient, just a darlin' of a dog. He was interested in saying 'hello' to Nasty Kitty, but hurt his feelings when she didn't fall in love with him. He pays no mind to the birds, rats, bunny and gets along with the little dogs and other greys. He even loves those short people, they are a perfect size for giving kisses! (Tonya- Navarre)

DOB 01-12-04, Red/F, approx 56#. This sweet little girl walked into my house, spotted my 7 yr old and claimed her as her own. Laura loves playing with kids. She can always be found in the middle of them or romping on the floor with my teenagers. Laura is definitely a 'family' dog. She's beautiful to boot, more cinnamon in color and small enough to become a 'lap' baby. She was more interested in the neighbors and the neighbors kids, during cat testing, that she never even realized there was Nasty Kitty. DOB 06/20/04, Red/F, approx 57#. Cindi is a sweet little thing. She's a little unsure of this retirement thing, but not shy, and with all her foster brothers and sisters, she's learning very quickly. She quietly comes up to you for some lovin', walks well on leash, enjoying all the kids and neighbors that come over to meet her. She has excellent house manners and crates all on her own. DOB 02/27/02, Black/F, approx 55#. There’s nothing wacky about Patty. This pretty little girl is all about quietly curling up in a comfy little space. Patty sees the world as a bit intimidating, but is not shy - in fact, she loves affection. Her coat is very soft, so she gets definitely gets her share of pets! Though not a competitive eating candidate (like some of her housemates), Patty loves treats. She’s already learned to run to the kitchen if she hears any activity in that direction, especially if her foster dad is cooking (he’s especially generous in the treat department). Patty knows her name, walks well on a leash, and has impeccable house manners. Cats are of no interest to Patty. She lives with two of them, 2 forever greys and a lab. DOB 10/11/02, Red/F, approx 57# Neda has really taken to this retirement life. She is one sweet, loving girl. Neda has been a wonderful dog to foster. She has maturity with a youthful heart. She's ready for a walk, ride, romp in the bay, or just meeting the neighbors. Neda makes for a greyt companion. Neda helps her resident sister grey with keeping the boy fosters out of trouble and makes sure her little Italian greyhound 'kids' are fine. Neda doesn't pay any attention to the birds or rats anymore now that her curiosity is settled, and kids screaming and running through the house doesn't bother her at all. Female, Red Fawn, DOB 11/25/03, approx 60#. ‘Missy’, as she is known now was found as a stray. A good friend of GPA/EC opened her home to this wayward girl until she could be moved into our program. This little girl was rightly named as she tries her best to talk to you, rooing and modulating her requests. She is a very happy and outgoing girl who would do well in an active family with children. She is as smart as a whip, with terrific house manners and behavior. She is living with a Greyhound buddy and a Siamese cat. DOB 01/04/04, White&Brindle/M, approx 80#. This boy is beautiful! One hunkin' love bug to boot. Abner is learning about this retirement thing. As long as he gets to be near for some lovin, he thinks that is just fine with him. Abner loves to lay his head in your lap, but watch those eyes! They can melt you with one look. Abner loves all the kids that come over, the neighbors and people he meets walking. His good looks draw them to him and his sweet personality wins them over. Abner gets along very well with the other greys, small dogs, pays no mind to the birds, bunny in the cage and is a bit scared of the rats. He will be meeting Nasty Kitty soon. ( Tonya- Navarre)

She has the nickname “Busy girl” from her foster mom and dad because she is happy, sweet, playful, and curious – a very smart little girl who wants to be with you all of the time and help you open cabinets, look into every new space, and move with you from place to place and check out whatever you’re doing. She is good with other dogs, curious initially about the cats but not aggressive, curious about birds, and has consistently shown excellent house manners. Male, white/black, 76 pounds, born 9-19-03. Fred's name doesn't suit him. Far from "brain dead" Fred is a recent "parolee" of the Nashville prison dog program. He sits and downs on command and has excellent leash and house manners. He has recently earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen title. New in our program, Fred now lives with small dogs and a cat. She will make for an excellent companion. She likes to keep you company with whatever you are doing but isn't a pest about it. She just likes to know what you are doing and maybe get a bit of lovin, then she quietly goes and lays down. Char D is very well behave, with excellent house manners. DOB 09/17/04, Red/M approx 67# Jake is a playful and outgoing boy. He gets a happy tail and clicks his teeth when he’s excited-especially when his family comes home. He loves to go for walks, play with his squeaky toys, and look out the window at the neighborhood. Jake loves to introduce himself to everyone he meets. He doesn’t get on the furniture and he crates while his people are away. Being a true greyhound, he loves to nap, but he loves to play too. She decided she really likes the retirement life since it took her less than one day to discover soft beds, dog toys, and treats. DOB 06/25/05, Red Brindle/M, approx 72#. WOW, doesn't even begin to describe this beautiful, brindle boy. He not only is extremely handsome but has a personality to match. Rusty is very sweet, he's obedient, comes when called, crates when asked, & no mistakes in the house. He may be young but he is a very good boy. He gets along with the other greys, the small dogs, including the one that wants to lick his face all the time. He doesn't mind the birds, rats, sniffed the bunny in the cage but that was it. Female, Fawn, DOB 07/27/04, approx 53#. ‘Sissy’ comes back to us because she needs to be in a home with another Greyhound and that wasn’t possible in her former home. She is currently being fostered with other Greys, a small dog and 2 cats, and gets along beautifully with all of them. She is fine with her people being absent for shopping trips and errands, etc. but wouldn’t be comfortable with repetitive, full work day absences. Sissy has excellent house manners, minds well, and is a truly delightful, loving, affectionate companion. This beautiful little girl, known as Brie now, is registered as fawn but she has this lovely blue mist through her coat making her look almost like she's made of suede. Brie has the most loving personality to match her beautiful exterior. She never hesitates to come to you when called and loves to be next to you. She adores my 7 yr old and her friends. Brie has excellent house manners, quiet, crates when asked and ignores what's on the counters. She loves to run and play outside with her stuffies. She is a daddy’s girl and will follow John and lay at his feet. She is very good with all of the other dogs, small and large, and likes to sleep next to ‘Rapido Neuvo’ on his bed.”

He was being displaced at age 13 through no fault of his, and his fosters, Bettie & John often wear a Greyhound shirt which sums it up – “Live with an Angel, adopt a senior.” Here’s what Bettie has to say about his transition. “Buddy has settled in nicely and is Mom’s shadow. He loves lying at your feet and comes to you to give kisses and be petted. He is a sweetheart of a boy and loves attention. He enjoys laying in the sand in the yard and just watching the other dogs play. He let the little poodle eat out of his bowl while he’s eating, and he’s so good with all of the other dogs”

She is petite, elegant, graceful with beautiful eyes that look at you so sweetly. She may appear a bit shy at first meeting but it does not take her long to seek out affection. Kay pays no attention to the birds, rats, and even tolerates the little dog licking her face. Kay was a bit nervous meeting kitty but I believe she is cat workable because she is so obedient. Flo is happy, affectionate, outgoing, gets along well with the other dogs - she often plays by doing some nifty 360s in the turnout pen. Her preliminary cat testing was inconclusive – the smart little dickens looks at us as if to say “you can’t fool me with this test stuff.” (Stacie, Ebro kennel)

DOB 11/28/02, Red/M, approx 78# Brother Pete has really taken to retirement life, thanks to a young greyhound girl that showed him what fun retirement is. Pete has learned how to play, and it's a joy to watch him finally break out of his shell. Pete is very obedient, loving, and calm. He never gives me any trouble what so ever. He really enjoys his walks, especially when he gets to meet people that stop to admire and love on him. Pete has learned to share his space now, even to the point of that pesky little dog licking his face. Pete even gives a half hearted attempt at playing with the little dogs but Pete is actually aware of his size compared to them. Pete completely ignores the birds and rats. On re-cat testing, I think he may be cat workable, I believe he is afraid of them. He doesn't know what they are. Brother Pete just keeps getting better. (Tonya Navarre area)

DOB 12/25/03, Brindle/F, approx 69#. Dee is a very gentle girl with excellent house manners. Fostered with 2 forever greys, a lab and 2 cats, Dee is the quiet soul in the bunch, waiting patiently for her treat or calmly asking for affection. A very smart little lady, Dee mastered the stairs on her own and has learned to use the dog door with a little coaxing as well as a few demonstrations by the resident dogs. Though Dee finds the cats somewhat interesting, she’s not particularly mischievous or overly curious. Crated only the first night we brought her into our home, Dee has been the perfect house guest and has truly demonstrated she has a warm/kind heart. (Stephanie & Sam)

DOB 01-21-04, Black Male, approx 68 pounds. Irish came to us with a sore leg, now fully healed and giving him no trouble at all. He runs and plays with all the other Greys, a small dog, and a Bassett Hound in his foster home. Irish is a gentle and affectionate boy that prefers to "nose" instead of give kisses, but he will sneak in a lick or two. He absolutely stole everybody’s heart at his Meet & Greet debut, and he has a look into your eyes that grabs you and won’t let go. His house manners are very good and crates when asked to. We think that Irish would love to have a family that would take him to some classes to teach him a job. Irish loves to please and is motivated to try with any treat offered. (Bettie & John, PC area)

Timka currently lives happily in a working household with two resident greys, but she’s independent enough to be an only pet. She eats well, crates well, and has excellent house manners. DOB 08-12-03, white&red/male, approx 68 pounds. Robby, as he's called in his foster home, has settled in nicely. He resides with another grey as well as a small poodle. He is has learned to play tug-of-war with his foster Mom and even a game of fetch when the mood strikes him. Robby has never met a stranger. Born April Fool's day, 2005, she is a youngster, her call name in the kennel is Lucy. She is a very dark brindle with some pretty white
markings. Outgoing and curious about everything. Her race weight was 64. She has tested as cat tolerant on initial assessment. She is the sister to SHK Nicely Nice.

Nikki is a dark brindle who is the same dark brindle as her sister, without the white blaze. They have matching temperaments too. She tested cat tolerant at the kennel. DOB 4/1/05. Her race weight is 61 lbs.

Andy is a cream fawn boy born on 8/9/02. He comes to us from a kennel who brings their young son into the kennel regularly. He is a quiet, mellow guy. He is on the smaller side for a male, racing at 64 lbs.

DOB 01/15/04, White/M, approx 70# Entering our program from the animal shelter. We'll probably never know his story or how he came from race track to shelter dog but this is one happy, friendly fellow. DOB 2/10/98, Brindle/Male. Boo comes back to the GPAEC family through no fault of his own. His owner was moved to an assisted living facility and Boo couldn't join her. He is a very laid back boy that enjoys sunning himself in the grass and resting in the air conditioning on hot days. Boo is small dog tolerant and would prefer a home without kitties. DOB 6-29-05, white & dark brindle/female, 55 pounds. Stella is absolutely adorable! She is a mixture of 'sweet, loving, cuddler' and a young dogs 'zest for life'. Stella, not being quiet 2 yrs old, loves to play and run around with her little buddies, adores kids, especially if they will play with her. Stella loves to cuddle, watch a movie, and will serenade you to let you know she's happy to see you. She behaves very well, of course being a kid you might have to remind her again later! Stella is such a joy to have around. She is small dog tolerant but wants to play with them, she is cat workable but again she wants to play with them. DOB 05/04/03, white&lt brindle/M Shawn comes to GPAEC from PAWS. He has moved into foster care and doing fantastic. So far we have found nothing that Shawn doesn't care for. Shawn is small dog tolerant, cat tolerant. He crates when asked without complaint but would much rather spend his evening lounging on the couch in proper retired racer fashion. (Cathy & Chris)

DOB 04-27-04, White&Black/Female, approx 60#. Freckles, as her trainers called her, is new to our program. Initial assessment is confident and outgoing. She will tell us more about herself soon. (kennel)

DOB 3.9.04, White & Red Brindle/Male, approx 72#. This is a tall and very sweet boy.  Foster parents have seen Wilson playing with his toys in the yard, shaking them, prancing around with them, even throwing them up in the air and catching them.  He just loves going for walks and his big brown eyes will win you over fast. Wilson is not cat tolerant. (Alex & Karen)

DOB 04/21/02, Red/F. Ghosty is new to our program and joins some of her family members. She is niece to Raspberry Ghost and littermate to Gringo Ghost (previously placed through our group). Ghosty will tell us more about herself when she moves into foster care. (kennel)

Fawn Male, March 03, 84lbs. Finding himself once again in our program, through no fault of his own, Fireman is adjusting very well to foster care. He is sharing his foster home with two kitties, a small terrier and three other Greyhounds. In his previous home, he also lived with a child and even a puppy. Fireman is very calm and gentle, a little shy at first but warms up when he gets to know you. He's a softie with big brown eyes that will melt your heart. (Max and Marsha)

Female, DOB 12.24.96, Fed Fawn, approx 68lbs. Razzy had a long career as a racer, came home to the farm and was a momma. Raz is now ready to move on to her third career as a beloved pet. Razzy is quietly affectionate but not very demonstrative. She would love nothing more than to have lots of time with her family. Raz is currently living with multiple other greys and a small dog. Male, white and red, DOB 11/17/04--Patch is a handsome boy with lovely markings and a personality to match. He's got a very sweet disposition, slightly on the shy side but he loves attention warms up easily to everyone. He's getting along fine with the 2 other greys, and 3 other dogs he's being fostered with. He crates well and has had no accidents in the house. He loves a good run, and walks well on the leash. He can also be an extreme "leaner", if he's feeling a bit nervous he wraps himself around you. No doubt, he'll soon be wrapping himself around the heart of his forever family. (Laurie & Walter)

DOB 07-18-03, Brindle Female, approx 56 pounds. Chipper as she's being called in her foster home, is coming out of her shell quickly. She's learned that her leash means a nice walk and a treat. She takes a stroll around her neighborhood with her foster Mom and sleeps on a dog bed at night. She has impeccable house manners, not having one accident yet. Chipper is being fostered with another greyhound and a cat. (Sue)
