Female, White & Black, DOB 1-11-07, approx 54lbs Casey is learning all about the fun she can have playing with stuffies and her housemates, especially the Westie Terrier. They have become greyt pals. She gets along well with the resident GH's too. Her house manners are excellent; she loves her cozy bed (crate) and sleeps through the night. She is very affectionate and just once in awhile will show you that wonderful Greyhound smile. She is a collector of toys, pillows and blankets which all seem to end up in her crate and doesn't chew a one. Female, White & Black, DOB 1-5-04 approx 60lbs  GiGi is a wonderful, sweet Velcro girl! She has a confident and outgoing personality and at the same time just wants to cuddle with her foster mom. She crates easily, especially at meal times! She obeys very well. She is still learning about cats, that it is not okay to chase. If allowed, this girl would definitely be a lap dog. Katie came to GPAEC due to the passing away of her person. She had impeccable house manners, and loved going for walks. Katie was the perfect senior lady. Female, Fawn, DOB 12-17-02, 58lbs.  Daisy came to GPAEC from a shelter, heartworm positive and began undergoing treatment. She has come a long way in a short time. She first fostered comfortably with two other GH's and a cat in a working home, now with some other GH’s and small dogs where she can continue to take it easy for her HW monitoring. He prefers to wait to let you make your introduction, and then gladly accepts your attention. Willie loves kids, has excellent manners, and he talks to you to let you know you’re not finished scritching him when he’s enjoying your attention. He shares his foster home with a Grey that has taught him the finer points of retired life. Don't let her small stature fool you, this little girl is big in everything she does. She plays big and loves to play with stuffies, she is big in affection without being pushy, has a big appetite, and the biggest thing of all she has the biggest, cutest, toothiest Greyhound grin. Her first day in foster she came in the house found what was to become her favorite spot and laid down. She crated well that first night, slept through the night and has continued to do so, she gets along with all her new Greyhound housemates and pretty much ignored our Westie Terrier. She is learning to have patience while waiting for her food, her potty habits are perfect and she is learning to use the pet door. She rides well, likes to stand up and look out the windows (big girl). Renee has not been kitty tested yet. This little girl is BIG TIME SWEET. Well, I’m trying anyway. Mom won’t let me up on the sofa to get in her lap, but I’m working on it. . .I stand on her with my front feet and burrow up under her arm, I’ve even tried giving her face kissies. None of this has worked so far, but I think she’s weakening. I am very friendly and fun loving. I adore extraordinary amount of attention. Female, Black, DOB 2-1-04, 64lbs.  Zo is a sweet and affectionate girl - a charmer with gentle kisses to give who looks in your eyes with that special twinkle that just captivates you.  Zo is the daughter of “Designing”, who has been adopted through our program, and Zo’s name has gotten the attention of several Led Zeppelin fans that recognize ”Zoso” as the title of their “Rune” album - the third most popular selling album of all time.  Zo is curious and smart, she helps open each drawer and door in her foster home, and her intelligence and curiosity is well matched by her excellent house manners. She lives with Greyhounds and cats in her foster home, and is fine with small dogs too.  She is fun to be with, loves getting her scritches, and her foster mom and dad simply describe her as a delightful, happy little girl. Dash has over 100 races behind her, has raised a litter of pups and is now ready for her third career as a beloved family member. She lives in her foster home with two kitties and two resident Greyhounds. Dash loves her stuffies and even has a couple of favorites. She loves to collect them in her crate and often we hear a squeak or croak in the night when she lays on them. She has excellent house manners and crates easily. DOB 11/19/05, Wht&Bdl/Male, approx 70# I’m a very sweet and smart boy - it only took me one day to learn about the dog door – nobody showed me, I figured it out all by myself! I did fall in the pool a couple of times, but it was no big deal. My house manners are excellent and I love being petted, especially on my head. Walks are great fun and I get really excited when it’s time to go. I am a dream on a leash, as well as in the car, and my sit position is perfect. "Z" is crated daily, which she doesn't seem to mind, while her foster mom works. She knows her name and comes when called. She listens well and has good house manners. Male, Red Fawn, DOB 3-01-04, 77 lbs. He’s a laid back, happy, affectionate guy who loves having you pay attention to him, which he gently returns.  We suspect he got his nickname from being a southern boy who went north to show ‘em how to run, then was smart enough to come back to the Emerald Coast to retire – it certainly doesn’t come from his behavior.  He paid no attention to the kitties and small dog he met at the vet’s office but hasn’t been tested.  He has settled in nicely at his foster home and even “the Queen” Greyhound girl likes having him for company.  His house manners are excellent, he loves his walks, and he even liked his bath <grin>.       (Fostered by Lauren & John, PC area)   ($ponsored by Lisa Ulshoffer)

Female, Black, DOB 5-28-04, 65lbs.  Connie is one of the “airline litter”, and like littermates, Northwest and Delta, she is a laid back girl with lots of affection - her foster mom is delighted with how Connie snuggles and loves to give kisses. I am fascinated by the little boy that has been coming over. I saw myself in something they call the TV and thought it was my twin. I tried to look behind the box but couldn't find that other dog. He is playful, curious, loves to play with stuffed toys, and is very good at throwing them in the air and catching them - he can really throw them HIGH. He crates well, has excellent house manners and uses the pet door. His specialty is going to M&G's - he loves attention and really knows how to schmooze a crowd. He gets along well with his housemate buddies, 1 male and 2 female Greys and a Westie Terrier. He is small dog tolerant, but would prefer a home without those of the feline persuasion. Moe easily negotiates stairs, and has mastered the dog door, as well as the art of ignoring those pesky household felines. This young boy is full of energy and loves to play. Farley loves going for rides in the car, but most of all loves to be around his people. He crates easily when asked and will try very hard to coax a treat away from any hand that may have one. His big expressive eyes could melt even the hardest heart. Farley will never be a jogging partner but he'd be a greyt walking companion. A sinewy beauty, Giggles loves to cuddle, and offers loving little nibbles when happy—she also “chops”. Walks and treats are very high on her list of favorite things, along with scampering about while throwing toys in the air and catching them—she may even have fetching tendencies. Giggles crates well (for a treat), is a dream on a leash, and is very outgoing without being overly assertive. Her love of walks is second only to her love of food, and she does a little happy dance (kicking up her heels) in anticipation of her meals. Guns easily negotiates stairs, is great on a leash, roaches like a real pro, and grins when she is exceptionally happy. She is a very well behaved, calm, loving little girl who gets along well with the resident canines (a lab plus two greys) and is not in the least bothered by the “heathen” kitties scampering about in her home. He is currently living in a working home with 2 other greys. He is a bit reserved when experiencing new things and meeting new people, but his curiosity always gets the best of him and he warms up quickly. AJ is quite playful – a rope toy or squeaky will hold his attention for hours. He enjoys playing with his 4-legged housemates, but is independent enough to be a single pet. Female, Brindle, DOB 4-24-04, 58lbs What a sweetheart this little girl is. Marina is doing great after having a broken hock. She walks, plays and even runs now on that leg. Doesn't bother her at all. Marina has become the 'mother hen' to the Italian greyhounds, a puppy, and even the kitten she lives with. She didn't care to 'mother' the ferrets, they were a bit too aromatic for her so she avoids them, but I can imagine she wishes she had a clothes pin for her nose! Marina is a wonderful family companion. She's such a sweet girl and she doesn't even mind the loud talking teens or the kids screaming at the video games. DOB 7/3/07, Bdl/F approx 60# Shortcake comes to us at such a young age due because a sudden growth spurt caused her some front leg lameness. Our vet tells us that she will grow out of it in time as her growing and weight evens out. She is a happy playful puppy that enjoys running in the yard, playing with as many toys as she can find and interacting with the other dogs. Gravy is a handsome laid-back dude.  He’s quietly self confident, likes to give a ‘lean’ and get scritches, is pleasant, and watches you to make sure he’s doing “OK” for you.  He didn’t pay any attention to the little ankle biter he met in the vet’s office but the meeting was too short to draw conclusions other than his initial assessment is consistent with being a happy, comfortable, “laid-back dude”.  <Ebro Pet Kennel>

Amber loves to go for walks, but also enjoys nice, long, frequent, naps---it’s the only way her tail gets a rest. She loves the outdoors, sunning herself in the grass, wading through her baby pool, or running about in pursuit of a ball or squeaky toy. Her sit position is exquisite, and occasionally, when she’s really excited, she grins and gives little nibbling kisses. Amber gets along well with the resident greys, lab, and 2 cats. DOB 12/10/5, Whit&Fawn/M, approx 60#. Clancy is as near perfect as a dog can be. He has perfect house manners, crates perfectly, rides perfectly, and gets along perfectly with his housemates (1 male & 2 female Greys and a Westie Terrier). He is very smart, he learned to use the pet door on his first day in foster, he learned his new name Clancy right away, Beer Belly just didn't suit him, he has learned to wait patiently for his food and is getting the hang of playing with squeaky toys. (at first they kinda scared him) He is sooo loveable, without being a Velcro dog. When he greets you he likes to nudge and give nibble kisses wherever he finds a nice soft spot. Flower (or ‘Boo’) is described by her foster mom as a “Loving Angel” who is calm and affectionate - She shows respect and manners when meeting you, then eagerly asks for attention and becomes Miss “Velcro”.  She gets along well with her companion Grey, an older mix breed guy, and the three cats - the three dogs really enjoy their romps and ‘tug of toys’ in the back yard, and her buddies have taught her the doggie-door swing of things.  She wants to be a collector, and understands “No” but doesn’t need to hear it much with her impeccable manners and genteel grace being what they are. Male, Fawn, DOB 8-12-04, 74lbs. Milo has a delightful zest for life and is eager to please. He loves to play, romp, and especially to give and get affection. He has lived with cats in his first foster home. DOB 3-23-05, Red Brindle/M, approx 65# Although he is a dreamy foster, we have shortened his name to Mick. Mick is really enjoying retirement with soft beds and long strolls around the neighborhood. He walks very well on a lead and never pulls, even when seeing a tantalizing cat or squirrel. He is living in his foster home with two resident Greys, two cats and a small terrier dog. He has met children and does well with them. Mick is a very mellow guy and has excellent house manners. Male, Red Fawn, DOB 5-6-05, 70lbs. Al is a sweet guy, He is gentle, soft and smart. He loves to play with the plush toys and takes all he can find to his crate. He loves to toss the toys in the air and does a great job of catching them before they hit the ground. He has eyes that will melt your heart. His crate door open and he goes in and out as he pleases. At bed time he looks forward to that last treat of the night and is not bothered when his door is closed for the night. Al is working on the fetching the ball. He will run to get the ball but has not gotten the return part of the game yet but we are working on that. He will make a wonderful forever pet. He plays well with our little sheltie. She can be a bit standoffish with other dogs when she is unsure of things, but once she settles in, she is a fine loving companion. Pixie has learned to ignore the birds, the rats, but the rabbit and kitties hold too much attention for her. Male, Fawn, DOB 09/19/04, 75lbs.  Gary is a happy, outgoing guy who just grabs your heart.  He’s very affectionate, loves his scritches, and even “talks” with a woof or two if you stop scritching. He could be nicknamed the “Energizer Bunny” with his curiosity, zest for life, and intelligence.  He is now getting along nicely in his foster home with 3 other Greys and 6 cats.  He clearly loves people, and he holds your gaze with those striking eyes and watches you to make sure he’s doing well for you. Female, Lt. Brindle, DOB 3-17-06, 53 lbs.   Maggie is the Imelda Marcos of the greyhound world----an avid shoe collector!!! She’s extremely well behaved, considering she’s just a baby (20 months), with impeccable house manners. This little girl loves to curl up next to you and is VERY, VERY affectionate. Barely tipping the scales at 50 lbs, this little pixie of a dog gets along well with the resident greys and lab. She wants to play with the cats, but they are not at all interested in developing a relationship-----she’s even tried “talking” to them with no success. Since the cats are so unfriendly, little Maggie has learned to settle for playing with her toys, throwing them up in the air and catching them, while scampering about the room. Female, Brindle, DOB 9-4-04, 65 lbs. We thought Cholla was not feminine enough for this little one so we have been calling her Chloe. She is living in her foster home with other Greyhounds, a small terrier and two kitties. Chloe has very good house manners, walks very well on a lead and loves to go exploring the neighborhood with us. She is not one for lazing in the backyard though, much prefering to laze inside instead. We feel her independent nature would enable her to be an only dog in a home where her humans work. DOB 3-25-03, Wht&RedBrindle/M, approx 70#. Dear Santa, My name is Gizmo. I am 4 yrs old. I'm quite the 'ladies' man around here, though they don't realize that yet. I've been a good boy, though just between you and me, I did try to smell my foster mom's lunch once. She didn't like it so I don't do that anymore. I like my foster mom, she scratches my rump, then giggles. She says I make a funny face when she does that. I really like the little girl here, she'll scratch me also. She's so cute I can't help myself, so I kiss her. Told ya I was a 'ladies man! The kitties here I find way to tempting to resist, but I'm a really good boy with the little doggies here. DOB 6-25-06, Wht&Brindle/F, approx 50#. Peanut as she is called now because of her size. She just didn't live up to a Lassie dog. Peanut is a nimble little thing, enjoys jumping in her top crate and playing in earnest with any and all toys. Peanut may be young and busy but she's a smart girl too. DOB 4-6-05, RedBrindle/F, approx 57#. Vivid Star is indeed a star, she has such a pretty face with a sorta star on the back of her neck. Her red brindle coloring is striking. She is very laid back and quiet, but confident. She gets along well with three female Greys and a playful Westie Terrier. She loves her soft bed and crates easily and on her own. Her house manners are excellent, although she did have one little accident on her first day in foster, but once she learned where the door was she's done perfectly. DOB 7-15-04, DkBrindle/M, approx 65#. Doc, as we call him, is just a beautiful boy, inside and out. He does well with the other Greys he is living with, small dogs and kitties. He has gotten his nose smacked by the cat a couple of times (he was just walking by) and now where the cat is, he isn't. Doc crates with ease, loves squeeky toys and walks easily on lead. His house manners are excellent. He has met children and seems to enjoy their company. He will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. (Marsha & Max - Pensacola area)

She is a very settled girl who is living with other Greyhounds, a small dog and two kitties. She l crates easily and hangs out there for naps when not out "roaching" in the sun or going for a walk. Male, Red Fawn, DOB 03/19/05, 71lbs.  Doogie, called “Doogaliscious” by his trainers, is an absolute sweetie.  In the picture, he is looking at a cat in the vet’s office waiting room - his “cat tolerant, kid friendly” pre-lim is now verified by his demeanor and by his living in a foster home with a no-nonsense Siamese and another Greyhound.  He is calm, affectionate, out-going when approached, rides well, holds your gaze with his eyes - you know ‘somebody’s in there’ - and he loves learning about things in his new home.  Doogie is a world class snuggler who generously gives mannerly kisses and ear nibbles.  (Fostered by Jennifer & David, PC area)

Male, Black, DOB 6-22-03,  65lbs. Don is now off medical hold and doing just fine. The laceration on his leg is now fully healed and barely visible. He has taken to retirement like a duck to water. Don gets along well with the other greys in his foster home as well as the little dog. He doesn't quite understand why her legs are so short but it doesn't really bother him. Don also passed his kitty test with flying colors. He was barely able to even look at the cat once he heard it growl at him.. DOB 4-16-04, Brindle/F, approx 70#  Hasani is a stunning beauty who makes a grand entrance without even trying! She’s a very subdued girl, who loves her treats as much as she loves attention. This magnificent girl is not clingy, but follows “her people” about the house patiently waiting for a handout, or a “hand out” to pet her. She’s exceptionally mild mannered, well behaved and loving. DOB 3-17-06, Red Fawn/F, approx 60# This sweet, beautiful young pup is currently fostered in a working household where the resident greys have taught her all about rope toys, stuffies, and naps in front of the window. Dusti loves to play and run in the yard with her 4-legged housemates, but she's polite and quiet inside. She has a healthy appetite, exceptional house manners, and crates beautifully. Maui is truly a sweet, energetic little girl, not to mention how adorably cute she is.She loves to give affection by laying her head on your lap or shoulder and waits for her ear scritches or a pat on the head.
